Review

The review is an evidence-based process carried out by independent experts. - The information provided by the agency is assumed to be factually correct unless evidence points to the contrary.

Verification

The review is a process of verification of information provided in the self-assessment report and other documentation and the exploration of any matters which are omitted from that documentation.

Discussion

The process is transparent, and outputs are communicated prior to final publication.

Accreditation

The level of conformity with the ESG required for EAQA membership is that of ‘overall compliance’, not rigid adherence.

Full  Accreditation

EAQA is an independent organization that provides membership to quality assurance agencies based in the European Higher Education Area. To become a member, QA agencies must undergo an external review against the European Standards and Guidelines (ESG) every five years and demonstrate compliance with the ESG through the review process. The primary aim of EAQA Agency Reviews is to evaluate an agency's compliance with the ESG and support it in continuously reviewing and improving its work. The review outcomes are used as a basis for applying for EAQA membership and other purposes, such as registering on EQAR. EAQA also coordinates ESG reviews of agencies that cannot or do not wish to apply for EAQA membership, such as QA agencies outside the EHEA.

Accreditation Application In Three Steps

1. Online Application

Institutes submit their online applications  and get a free consultation from one of our secretariat representatives. Once the application is reviewed by the secretariat, they move to the next step.

2. Site Visit

The second step of the process is to visit (or video call) institutions and inspect their facilities, faculty, education standard, etc.

3. Accreditation Awarded

Once the visit inspection report is submitted, our commission members review it and, if qualified, the institute gets EAQA’s accreditation (full accreditation, online accreditation, or program accreditation).

ACCREDITATION STATUS

Recognitions and Legal Status

aas
Legal Status

Accreditation is a voluntary, non-governmental peer review process. Accreditation by the EAQA shall be understood to convey only that the higher education institution meets the EAQA´s educational standards. Such recognition is not in any way intended to substitute legal authorisation, recognition or regulation, through compliance with local government laws. Legal authorization, recognition or regulation, and government accreditation occur in the context of different reviews.

Institutional Accreditation

The EAQA accredited institution is evaluated as a whole entity or in every specific program offered. Thus, the EAQA accreditation status is programmatic and it may be useful for the approval of specific programs (not for licensing of professions).

International Scope

The EAQA accreditation focuses primarily on educational quality from a global and international perspective, not narrow interests, or political action, or educational fashions. The EAQA is aware of the differences among countries that may arise in regards to fulfilling the quality standards set forth, so EAQA will examine each higher education institution expecting their institutional autonomy and following a non-discriminatory policy. Due to this global policy, the EAQA is not part of any country´s governmental agencies. Academic mobility and credit transferability of accredited institutions will always be subject to the receiving country or institution policy.
